What data do we collect and why?

Newsletter

When you subscribe to the LAUT.WERK newsletter, we process your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your name. We use this information to send you news about our typefaces, releases, studio stories, and occasional offers. Our legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Providing your email address is voluntary, but necessary if you wish to receive the newsletter. You may withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or by emailing us at info@altwerkdesign.com. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it was withdrawn. We keep newsletter subscription data until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent. We may retain limited information about the withdrawal where necessary to document the request and ensure that we do not contact you again for
marketing purposes.

Contact requests

If you contact us by email or through a contact form, we process the information you provide, such as your name, email address, company name and message. We use it to respond to and manage your request.

Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in communicating with people who contact us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), where applicable. We retain contact request information for 12 months after the matter is closed, unless a longer retention period is required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Website usage and cookies

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregated, anonymized website usage, such as page views and referral sources. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information for this purpose.

Who receives your data?

We use carefully selected service providers that process personal data on our behalf,
including:

  • Newsletter provider: MailerLite Limited, used to manage subscriptions and send newsletters;
  • Website hosting provider: Vercel Inc.

These providers act as processors where they process data on our instructions, or as independent controllers where they determine their own processing purposes (for example, a payment provider). We enter into appropriate data-processing terms with processors and only share data that is necessary for the relevant service.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where this happens, we ensure that a valid transfer mechanism is in place, such as an adequacy decision or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, together with any necessary supplementary safeguards.

How long do we keep data?

We retain personal data only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. The main retention periods are set out in Section 2 above.

Your rights

Subject to the conditions set out in the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • request access to your personal data;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request erasure of your data;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing;
  • receive data you provided to us in a portable format where applicable; and
  • withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

To exercise a right, please contact us at info@altwerkdesign.com

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Hungary, this is the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH): https://naih.hu/.

Children

Our website, products and newsletter are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will publish the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.
